Condolence & Memory Journal

Thinking of Mr. McGinn today and thankful to have known him. I will always have fond memories of him at our house in Aston when we were kids, at political events and most importantly, at Dairy Queen, where he helped me get my first job as a teen. He was a gentle giant - a great sense of humor and always had a smile and was kind. Call me Jimmy, he would say to me. Jimmy, your spirit was a good one and you will be missed.

As we pass through life we encounter many people come of whom leave a legacy for others to follow. Jim MCGinn leaves a legacy that we can all admire. Dedicated to his son and family Jimmy always took time to help others. No one has done more for the residents if Aston Township than Jim. But his legacy spread far beyond Aston to all parts of Delaware County and our state through his work as a Commissioner and County and State leader. For me, Jim was one of my most loyal friends and earned the respect of everyone in my family. As we reflect on the passing of Jim, let us remember all if those whom he touched, helped and inspired. The extended Weldon Family are all better off for having been able to call Jim our friend. Congressman Curt Weldon (1986-2007)

We go way back, he delivered the Daily Times to my parents home on Old Pennell Rd. He hated walking down that hill but never missed. We played many pickup football games together on Holefelder Field. He was a pretty good quarterback. Later in life I worked with him on many police contracts. He was always more than fair and we never once had to go to arbitration. He will be missed by many. Jim was a big man with even a bigger heart. He was dedicated to his community and did many good things for them. Always a smile on his face and a joke from his lips. He worked his tail off for the PSATC and if he was your friend he would bring in more ads than ten Commissioners combined. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jim's family. He will be missed....rest in peace my friend.

Jimmy, .....You were always there for me when the political world got confusing for me. You were one of the people that took me under your wing, even though you always called me an "inplant" because I didn't grow up in Aston. (LOL) You always made me smile, and laugh ALOT!!
The day before you passed, I actually thought of you, as we were driving past DiNardo's in Wilmington, and smiled as I recalled everyone we were with when you took us there for crabs and what a fun night we all had as friends. I vowed, that I was going to try and touch base with you. I will be be forever sad, that I didn't have that chance. Thank you for your dedication to so many people in Aston, and thank you for being you.
May you rest in peace.
