I was fortunate to be introduced to Roland Isabella by his nephew Chris, and to discover that we had in common an appreciation for various science fiction franchises, animation, and so on. I appreciated him sharing his collection and his outlook with me, as well as his intelligence and humor. He never let anything limit his imagination; this was a positive influence on me as I pursued multiple degrees in writing fiction, and I am grateful to him for that. I am given to understand that he beat the odds, medically speaking, for many years, and we are all better off for the time he was here with us.

Roland, I will always remember you as one of the most daring and happy men. Your wheelchair & van amazed me as a child, and your kindness has always stayed with me. You ALWAYS had a smile on your face, and you always made me feel special. Thank you for being a special part of my childhood. The beach days in OCNJ will never be forgotten...If i remember correctly, you always had an eye for the ladies ;-) . We love you, and we will miss you. I hope you have found peace and are somewhere now, running free. XO

Roland was a wonderful man. He was smart, articulate and easy to get along with. He loved the opportunity to communicate and enjoyed a visit irrespective of the amount of time you could extend. From the beginning he had to surrender his physical abilities on a very gradual basis and finally, in the end, he had to surrender all. I loved him most for his tolerance which was continually tested and his humility which was undeniable and beautiful. I will miss him greatly.

What a surprise to hear of Rolands passing after returning from vacation. Roland was a special guy and I enjoyed our many conversations at meal time. It was an honor and a privilege to be able to serve him. I trust he is spending eternity with the love of his life. He will be missed but all of us at Pocopson Home.

My deepest condolences to the Isabella family and other friends of Roland. Roland, my buddy of 55+years, I'll miss you and all the great times and moments we shared on wheels. Thank you for saving my life when you phoned my Mom to tell her that I was in pain and she couldn't hear me calling her. After she called the ambulance to take me to the ER, it was found out that I had appendicitis. I guess you wanted to make sure I was still around for our many more years of excellent and fun adventures. Now it's your time to Boldly go where All Good Men Trek with the Angels way beyond the Stars!

Roland was a true inspiration for my family. In my memory he will always be deeply tanned, smiling from ear to ear, laughing loudly and reminding us all that life is a gift even if you're not feeling full strength. Thanks Roland - we will miss you but not forget you!
