Tribute & Message From The Family

Loving Husband, Father, & Grandfather

STEAD Sr.
Charles K. Sr. "Charlie" age 70, on Jan. 26, 2021 of Easttown, PA.
Charlie passed away with his family by his side at Paoli Memorial Hospital.
Charlie was preceded in death by his son the late Charles K. Jr. (Chuck-o) He was the son of the late Mitchell and Barbara (nee Renninger) and brother of the late Mitchell (Duke).
Survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Catherine (nee Durante), his sons Mitchell (Jennifer Sides), and Jonathan (Meagan Enderson), and his daughters Julianne (Rick) Jackson and Helen (Parker) Knight and soon to be daughter-in-law Katherine Tener, and his 5 grandchildren: Jocelyn Stead, Jack Stead, Taylor Sutton, Kennedy Jackson, Breeland Reese Stead and Katelyn Tener.
Charlie was born and raised in Malvern, Pa and a graduate of Great Valley High School. Charlie went on to work at Graphic Packing in Paoli, Pa for 31 years and held many titles throughout his career.
Charlie's passion was being a firefighter and constantly giving back to the community. Charlie was a life member at Berwyn Fire Company where he held numerous roles from Assistant-Chief to Engineer. Charlie enjoyed working with the younger members and being able to pass the knowledge bestowed on him from those that came before. Charlie was also a member of the Paoli Fire Company and was the Engineer for a time.
Charlie was an avid hunter and a Life Member of Robwood Lodge. Charlie enjoyed turkey hunting, deer hunting and pheasant hunting. Charlie looked forward to all of the time he would spend with his fellow members along with his two sons Mitchell and Jonathan. Charlie was known for ability to find turkeys. While he may not have been the most conventional at it, he always seemed to get shot at one. Charlie was also known to be the man at Camp that brought everything, if you forgot it or couldn't find it Charlie had it or a spare. Charlie loved his membership and friends at Kellogg Mountain Rod and Gun Club where he was a life member. Charlie would look forward to going to "sign the book" and talk with his friends about his day of hunting.
Charlie was very active coaching Little League baseball for nearly 20 years for Berwyn-Paoli. Charlie was often heard ending his practices with the kids by telling them "give me five and be good to your parents."
Charlie was a member of St. Monica's Parish in Berwyn, PA.
Charlie will be missed by many. His generosity was seen by all and his legacy will lived through his loved ones that were left behind.
With the loss of Charlie and Chuck-O on the same day we should all be thinking about them both riding off in a lock van or tow truck together forever!
In lieu of flowers donations are encouraged to Berwyn and Paoli Fire Companies in Charlie's memory.
Due to COVID-19 services will tentatively be held on May 22nd weather permitting and the time will be determined.
No other services are scheduled at this time.

Rest easy my brother we have it from here.

Frank Schaeffer
When I'm called to duty God wherever flames may rage
grant me the strength to save a life whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child before it is too late
or save an older person from the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently put the fire out

I want to fill my calling Lord and give the best in me
to guard my every neighbor and protect his property

And if according to your will I am to lose my life
God bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife

Chuck-O's passing is a huge loss to the Towing industry and to the community. He was one of the hardest working guys we know. He was always there for not just his customers but for his friends in the towing and auto business as well. Chock-O will live on in our memories forever. We send our prayers and sympathy to the Stead family and friends. God Bless.

Candle

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I used to have so much fun playing baseball with Chucko and being coached by his dad. Mr. Stead was a great coach. Sitting in the back of study hall cracking jokes together was always a fond memory. I'm sad we never hung out as adults and am deeply saddened by the news. My heart goes out to the family.

Chuck was a great next door neighbor and friend, always helping anyone who needed it. I spoke to him the day before and was shocked he passed so suddenly. He will be sorely missed in the neighborhood. My heart goes out to anyone who knew this great guy. May he rest in peace.

Chucko, your passing leaves a heartache that will be very hard to heal. You'll forever be remembered as a kind and caring person who loves spending time with family and friends. You always made yourself available to brighten the lives of others. You took the time and were always there to help and support all your family and friends.
Every persons life must at sometime end, but how they lived and who they touched is what we remember. You will always be remembered for being a kind and caring person. You will be deeply missed by all.
I feel very fortunate to have you and become a part of your wonderful family. I've enjoyed the comfort of having you as a friend, and guarantee you'll never be forgotten. Good luck my friend.

Charlie, you will always be remembered as a person dedicated to your family, friends and your community. From supporting little league, the Berwyn and Paoli Fire Company's, and the Devon Horse Show you always made yourself available to support the community.
You are a good friend and always supported whatever endeavor we would get involved in. You will always be remembered for being a kind and caring person, and it is not hard to see how that attribute filtered down through your family.
I feel very fortunate to have known you and become a part of your amazing family. I've enjoyed having you as a friend, and, guarantee you'll never be forgotten. Good luck my friend!

I’m going to miss Chuck very much. We spent countless hours working on cars together. It’s a great loss to us all. He was always there to help anyone that needed it. No questions asked. I’m still in disbelief that he’s gone.
