Obituary for Helen (nee Yash) DeJulius

Loving Wife

Helen Yash DeJulius of Brigantine, NJ, peacefully exited her earthly home for the final time on May 24th with Charlie, her devoted husband of 49 years, by her side. Although Helen is gone from us for now, we are blessed with physical reminders of her beauty and simple elegance that live on in every design element that Helen exactingly chose with Charlie for their home.

Born to the late Czechoslovakian immigrants, John & Anna Yancisin Yash, of Dunmore, PA, Helen was predeceased by an infant brother, Stephen, and sisters Margaret Gilligan and Claire Domnick. The last surviving member of that nuclear family, Helen served as matriarch of it's subsequent generations for nine years.

Throughout her life, Helen was advanced in progressivism - an advocate for harmony, peaceful interaction, respectful discourse, and justice. She viewed life as a sacred gift and saw no gift as more valuable than any other. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and with her mobility continuing to deteriorate, Helen determined to remain as independent as possible accomplishing things "slowly, but surely" and without complaint. Later, as her memory began to fail her, Helen continued to be an exemplary role model on how to live one's life with grace under pressure.

One of Helen's greatest talents was her ability to make everyone feel welcome and oh so comfortable in her presence. Her pure essence could be felt in her every action and word. The touch of her hand felt like unconditional acceptance. When she spoke she uttered truths, never gossip, judgment or animus. When she smiled, or laughed, or cried, the genuineness of her emotions was palpable. Helen's attentiveness to others allowed all to feel as though they were her best friends or family members.

Indeed, everyone was truly important to Helen - and Helen was extremely grateful any time she had occasion to be in your presence. Yes, she was extremely grateful for you!

In lieu of flowers, and to honor Helen's memory, and to perpetuate her desire to brighten the lives of others, Charlie askes that you seek to find your own personal way in which to let others know that you genuinely care for and about them.

Relatives and Friends are invited to her Graveside Service on Saturday, May 29th 11:30 AM Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery 1600 S. Sproul Road,
Springfield, PA 19064.
