Obituary

Touey

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that the Touey Family announces the passing of its patriarch William Touey Sr.

William P. Sr. "Bill", age 85 of Media, Pa, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA, Navy Veteran passed away on August 16, 2020.

Survived by his beloved wife of 62 yrs. Anna Marie "Nancy" (nee McKenna), his children Bill Jr. (Pam), Michael (Joanne), Kathy Doyle (John), Susan Henry (Pat), Robert (Jennifer), Christian (Tracy) and Meghan Campbell (Jay); his 19 cherished grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen Kelly (the late Gerald), Sr. Constance Marie I.H.M., John Touey and the late Emily "Mimi" Touey, Nancy Clay (the late Alvin) and Kathy Monzo (the late Carl).

He was a gentleman, true to himself, his family, his faith, and his country. His values were a natural part of his life. He treated each person he met with respect and kindness. Always understanding the feelings of people struggling and in pain. Offering kindness, empathy and wisdom to ease their discomfort.

He led a life that set an example. A core value lived regularly and exemplified was the "Quest for Excellence". Be your best, we don't expect perfection, only your best effort. In his own words, he led a life with no regrets.

A graduate of West Catholic H.S. and Villanova University with an Accounting Degree, he began his professional career at the General Accounting Office (GAO) while also earning his CPA license. As someone who had a passion for education, he became an adjunct professor of accounting at Villanova University. Later in his career, he founded Touey & Company CPA's.

As a leader in the community, he was one of the original founders of the Drexel Hill Raiders Athletic Association as well as a leader in Knights of Immaculata, St. Andrew's CYO and the St. Andrew's Player Theatre Group. A sense of integrity was never an option, but a daily obligation and a way of life. His sense of inclusiveness was a gift for all to be participants in life experiences.

He was a patron of the theater, enjoying live plays at every level, from high school productions to Broadway with his beloved wife. Like all things in his life, not only was he an enthusiastic spectator, but an active participant and leader. One of his favorite life experiences was taking a lead role in the play Guys and Dolls, the same role played by his favorite entertainer, Frank Sinatra.

He was an avid sports fan who loved all Philadelphia sports teams, but his greatest sports passion was Villanova Basketball as he was a life-long season ticket holder. Bill was also a competitive tennis player and golf enthusiast, including not 1, but 3 hole-in-ones across his lifetime.

Another passion was his love for travel with his beautiful bride, Nancy from Westport, Ireland where the "Touey Clan" originated to Jerusalem, the birthplace of his faith.

"I pray to God to give me perseverance and to deign that I be a faithful witness to Him to the end of my life for my God." - St. Patrick

"Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." - Mother Theresa
